Hunger is a real and growing problem in Arkansas, and organizations like the Arkansas Foodbank are making a tremendous difference to struggling families.

Dickinson Insurance and Financial Services, a family owned insurance and financial planning service with offices throughout central and northern Arkansas, is joining forces with the Arkansas Foodbank on a charity drive to bring food to hungry and food insecure families in and around Little Rock.

The Arkansas Foodbank boasts both local and national partnerships that provide large amounts of food to homeless, underprivileged, and hungry populations throughout the state. Recent research from the USDA and the National Foundation to End Senior Hunger ranks Arkansas first in severe and overall hunger, first in senior hunger, and third in child hunger – meaning that nearly 1 in 5 Arkansans are unsure of where, or when, they will receive their next meal.

“Hunger is a real and growing problem in Arkansas, and organizations like the Arkansas Foodbank are making a tremendous difference to struggling families,” says Jason Dickinson, owner and principal of Dickinson Insurance and Financial Services. “Working with a charity like the Arkansas Foodbank shows just how much a committed group of people can do to change lives for the better when they set their minds to it.”

Armed with a large network of both professional and community contacts, Dickinson and his team are reaching out to families and business leaders in an effort to reduce hunger across the state. The Dickinson team is also creating a social media site that they hope will draw attention to the growing hunger problem in Arkansas and generate support nationwide.

Assisting the Arkansas Foodbank is only the latest charitable effort undertaken by Dickinson Insurance. As part of an ongoing community improvement program the team calls “Agents of Change,” Dickinson plans to assist at least one new Arkansas-based charity every sixty days in the months to come.
