On April 30, 2016, Kalakaua Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic to make room for the thousands of locals and visitors who will head to the street to attend SPAM Jam. Several local restaurants will be on hand selling their best dishes with SPAM as the main ingredient.
More than 25,000 people will attend this popular annual Honolulu event. In addition to the SPAM-inspired cuisine, two stages will be set up on Kalakaua Avenue. The list of performers has not yet been released but will be available on the event website as SPAM Jam draws closer.
The Hawaii Food Bank will collecting cans of SPAM and other non-perishable items. Attendees are encouraged to bring along food items to donate that will then be used to help local families. Even those who are not fans of SPAM can enjoy this Honolulu event, and there are many dishes that have turned those who didn’t like the canned meat into fans.
