Race start for the Run For The Warriors

This run is a perfect way to embrace our community while we celebrate the recovery of our service members and military families.

New York, NY (PRWEB) April 14, 2014

Registration is now open for the 5th Annual Big Apple Run For The Warriors®, a 3-mile run and 1-mile walk to be held on Sunday, June 8, 2014. The race will begin at 55 Water St. in historic downtown Manhattan. Registration is now open with special pricing for veterans, military, families, and students by visiting: http://www.hopeforthewarriors.org/2014bigapple. All proceeds from the race will benefit Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.

In keeping with tradition of all Run For The Warriors®, this event will begin with an opening ceremony and a singing of the National Anthem. The opening ceremony honors local wounded heroes and families of the fallen. It provides a time to remember those who have given of themselves in the line of duty. Additionally, it serves as a time for the service members who participate to receive just a small piece of gratitude that is unequivocally shared by a nation indebted to their service.

“The financial district of New York has been a home to Hope For The Warriors® for years,” Tina Atherall, Hope For The Warriors® Executive Vice President said. “This run is a perfect way to embrace our community while we celebrate the recovery of our service members and military families.”

The Big Apple Run For The Warriors® will kick off Army Week NYC. The mission of Army Week NYC (http://www.armyweek.org/) is to provide quality events and activities to highlight the achievements, sacrifice, and service of those who have worn or currently wear the uniform of the United States Army, and their families. Army Week will involve a series of activities throughout the week, beginning with the Big Apple Run For The Warriors® on June 8 and ending on June 15.

"Army Week NYC is proud to partner with Hope For The Warriors®, and to kick off the week with an Army Birthday run is truly exciting,” Christopher Page, Army Week NYC Co-founder said. “Keep an eye out on the website for further details and events. We are excited for what the week will bring to New York City."

All proceeds will benefit Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that assists combat wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen. Sponsorship opportunities are still available by e-mailing runinfo(at)hopeforthewarriors(dot)org to learn more.
