West Babylon, NY (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- Registration is now open for the 6th Annual Long Island Run For The Warriors®. The race will be held at the Town Hall of Babylon in Lindenhurst, NY on Sunday, November 10, 2013. The race, with distances of 10K, 5K and a 1-Mile Walk/Run, has grown in numbers and popularity each year with more than 2,000 participants in last year’s race. Hope For The Warriors is a national nonprofit organization that assists post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.
Early registration is $30 per person with special pricing for veterans and students. Active duty military, spouses and children of active duty military, and Gold Star Families are free. (ID must be presented at Packet Pickup.) Children 10 and under are also free. Prices increase on October 31 so register today! Visit: http://www.hopeforthewarriors.org/longislandrun.
In keeping with tradition, this event will begin with an opening ceremony and singing of the National Anthem. The opening ceremony honors local wounded heroes and families of the fallen. It provides a time to remember those who have given of themselves in the line of duty. Additionally, it serves as a time for the service members who participate to receive just a small piece of gratitude that is unequivocally shared by a nation indebted to their service.
“The most important part of the morning is not the run, it is the opening ceremony,” Jack Caffey, Jr., Long Island Run For The Warriors® Race Director said. “In the ceremony, we truly honor wounded heroes and families of the fallen from both Long Island and throughout the country. These are the people who have sacrificed so that we can live in freedom.”
