RdV Vineyards in Delaplane, Virginia announced their significant contribution to support wounded service members and military families. The vineyard has donated $50,000 to Hope For The Warriors® from the sale of their Exsurgo wine. Hope For The Warriors® is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope to our service members and military families.

“The RdV staff and the team of volunteers who worked on the Exsurgo project could not be happier with the result and we are proud to be a part of the effort,” said Peter Petronzio, representative of RdV Vineyards.

The name Exsurgo is Latin, meaning to stand, rise and recover. It was chosen as the perfect word to represent the Hope For The Warriors® mission to restore a sense of self, restore family and restore hope for wounded service members.

“Exsurgo was the perfect name for a wine that will benefit our strong service members and military families,” Robin Kelleher, Hope For The Warriors® President said. “Hope For The Warriors® thanks RdV Vineyards for supporting our military families through their passion.”

Wounded service members and their families were part of the harvest process for Exsurgo. In October 2012, they and staff members from Hope For The Warriors® sorted through the fruit and stomped on grapes in the barrels. It was a memorable experience for both the warriors and the winery staff.

Exsurgo was a blend consisting of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, petit verdot, and cabernet franc. Visit http://www.rdvvineyards.com to learn more about the vineyard and their wines.
