Hope For The Warriors and BAADS Host Wounded-Veteran Sailing Clinic
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 09, 2013 -- Hope For The Warriors® (http://www.hopeforthewarriors.org) and BAADS (Bay Area Association of Disabled Sailors) will host wounded service members and veterans for their next sailing clinic and seminar Wednesday, September 18 – Friday, September 20 at Pier 40, South Beach Harbor, in San Francisco. Hope For The Warriors® is a national nonprofit organization that assists combat wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen.
The clinic will introduce wounded service members to the fun and exciting sport of sailing. Conventional sailboats as well as adaptive sailing equipment will be available, and activities will be chosen based on the nature of injury of each veteran to insure the comfort and safety of all participants. Other activities, such as hiking, kayaking, beach sports, and a baseball game will also be available. On Friday, September 20, participants will have the opportunity to crew in an official sailboat race.

Hope For The Warriors® has previously hosted several successful sailing clinics. Cpl. Jose Armenta, USMC (Ret.), a wounded warrior and double amputee, completed his first sailing race after completing the October 2012 clinic.
“Sailing provides me a freedom that is hard to find when you are disabled,” Armenta said. “By sailing, I can compete with able-bodied people.”
Travel to the clinic is provided by Hero Miles, a program supported by Fisher House Foundation (http://www.fisherhouse.org). Participants will travel to San Francisco on Tuesday, September 17 and return on Saturday, September 21.
