An Evening of Peace, Hope and Remembrance—Presented by Hope For The Warriors
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- Join Hope For The Warriors®, wounded service members, veterans, first responders, 9/11 survivors and more for an evening of yoga in downtown Manhattan—mere blocks away from the new, inspiring Freedom Tower. An Evening of Peace, Hope and Remembrance is presented by Hope For the Warriors® and led by Denise Olsen, a 200 hr YA - RYT and RN, and the widow of a firefighter lost on 9/11. Hope For The Warriors® is a national nonprofit organization that assists post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.
"People waste so much energy on their fears—fears that began on 9/11," Olsen said. "My goal for the class is to help them shift that energy to a more positive, helpful energy. I want people to use their energy for good and to help others."
Olsen follows her own advice. Married to a New York firefighter, Olsen’s life changed permanently on 9/11 when her husband was killed in the World Trade Center. Today, Olsen is a yoga instructor for the Military Wellness Program at Holliswood Hospital and the Family Reintegration Program funded by Hope For The Warriors®. Through this work, Olsen serves active duty and retired service members who are struggling with PTSD.
Olsen shares with the service members and veterans: "You can’t expect peace in the world if you can’t bring peace into your own family."
The class is only a $30 donation to Hope For The Warriors®. Attendees need to bring their own mat and can register early at http://www.hopeforthewarriors.org/nycyoga or on September 10 beginning at 6:30 p.m. For more information please contact Jordyn Buglione, jbuglione(at)hopeforthewarriors(dot)org.
