Hotblack Is the New Sports Watch Displaying Live match Data
London, UK (PRWEB) June 23, 2014 -- The crowdfunding campaign for Hotblack, the new luxury sports watch from designer Richard Hoptroff, is now live on the popular crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. Hotblack displays the scores from any football match in real-time as the match happens. Hotblack is the first luxury watch from Hoptroff’s line that is geared toward the sports fan.
Featuring over sixty moving Swiss parts, Hotblack is as mechanical as any watch on the market. The watch features an analog face with four separate dials, all tuned to Hoptroff No. 7 movement. A throwback to classic horology, Hotblack features a clean black-and-white design. The contrasting color scheme and the clean, easy-to-read Super Luminova numbers are designed to be reminiscent of a car dashboard, while the sleek lines and appealing curves are meant to emulate that of a classic concept car.
“We drew a lot of inspiration from both classic and modern car designs,” says Richard Hoptroff, designer of Hotblack and founder of Hoptroff London. “We wanted it to look fast, like the watch could almost fly right off your wrist. Hotblack is the Lamborghini of timepieces.”
In order to display all the data simultaneously and still maintain an analog face, the Hotblack dials have multiple functions. The main dial displays time throughout the day unhindered. The two top dials display the score of the match when it is in progress, with the top dial showing the score of the wearer’s favorite club and the left dial showing the score of their opponent. When a match isn’t in progress, the two top dials instead show the date. The bottom dial works as a game clock during the match and counts seconds when a match isn’t in progress.
Hotblack works through Bluetooth technology. Pairing itself to the Hotblack app, which is compatible with both iPhone and Android devices, Hotblack is able to transmit the scores of any football match in real-time. The user simply signs into the Hotblack app, picks their favorite club and then a small receiver, located inside the watch, receives the data transmitted from the wearer’s mobile phone and automatically prepares itself whenever a match is set to begin.
With the band and casing constructed from 316L brushed stainless steel, Hotblack is also designed to be strong and sturdy. 316L steel is of the highest-quality and is used in marine and medical applications because of its toughness and its high resistance to corrosion. The scratch-proof face is hand-cut from Sapphire glass, second only to diamond on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. The rear casing is cut from onyx, which was chosen for its black color and its ability to improve the range of the Bluetooth receiver in the watch.
The campaign for Hotblack is now in progress on Kickstarter. Hotblack will retail for £990, but those who pre-order during the Kickstarter campaign can receive the watch at an early bird price between £400 and £700.
