(PRWEB UK) 11 December 2013
From a photo-shoot with Santa Claus, “staying over” at a Yorkshire hotel, to a giant Gingerbread House built in the lobby of a Manila hotel, and used to raise money for the Philippines’ Hurricane victims; quirky seasonal stories were unravelled and displayed on the company’s Christmas Wall of Fame, an image gallery spread across different social media platforms.
Sharon Wimborne, Director of Marketing and Strategy at HotelREZ, commented:
"Our 1,000 independent hotels in 27 different countries strive to provide their guests with a unique travel experience, so we thought it would be interesting to share what they will do to celebrate the festive season with their guests and staff. We tried to uncover some of the quirky traditions that exist; from the local foods that are being put on the menus to the array of decorations that will be hung up and events that will be held.”
Major social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, were essential to the collection of these stories from member hotels, via common hash tag #HotelREZChristmas. And thanks to Pinterest’s new mapping capabilities, the company was able to create a virtual visual tour, ultimately allowing the public to navigate across the different Christmas traditions around the globe.
