We have been baking fresh, healthy bread for 20 years and we are celebrating our anniversary on November 11th

The House of Bread Bakery Cafe Founder, Sheila McCann opened the first House of Bread 20 years ago in San Luis Obispo, California. After practicing law as a public defender, Ms. McCann decided to embark on a more positive career path. She remembered baking bread with her beloved Grandma, and all the wonderful feelings from the aromas, to the sense of accomplishment when tasting the delicious baked goods. House of Bread was designed to give the customers a replication of that “feeling” with an open production site to watch the bakers hand shape the loaves, view the finished products coming out of the oven and tasting a slice from the huge sample board.

As markets change and the selection of bread choices increased in the supermarket, House of Bread expanded their product line to include a café component of breakfast and lunch…while still keeping that same “feeling” of showcasing the art of baking wholesome and nutritious bread.

To celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the House of Bread Bakery and Café, there will be 20 cent cinnamon rolls for every customer as well as a chance to win one of 20, $20 gift cards. On top of that, we will be making a 20 pounds cinnamon roll. The gooey concoction is based on the same recipe that is used daily to make the popular single serve roll. “The only difference between our popular roll and this monster is that it is 50 times larger, and we give this one away to our customers through out the day.” said Sheila McCann.

The House of Bread Bakery makes everything from scratch daily providing families with the most nutritious bakery products available. Customers get to watch and participate in weekly classes on bread making. The recipes have been in the family for decades, but Sheila has always felt that sharing her love of bread making and what she learned making bread with her Grandma years ago on their Montana ranch was giving something back to the community she serves.
