Hoveround Celebrates National Family Caregivers Month by Recognizing the Dedicated Men and Women Who Care for Their Loved Ones
Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) November 18, 2015 -- National Family Caregivers Month honors the millions of Americans who unselfishly provide care for loved ones who are elderly or disabled. Hoveround is recognizing those dedicated caregivers with a special giveaway. For more information, visit https://www.Hoveround.com/CaregiverContest.
The giveaway runs from Nov. 9 through Dec. 11. Ten winners a week will be chosen. The prize is a gift card valued at $10. (Terms and conditions may apply.)
“Hoveround would like to recognize the special people in our lives who help us live independently and stay in our homes,” said Tom Kruse, the company’s founder and president. “We’re asking caregivers to share with us why they love doing what they do, and we want people with caregivers to share their appreciation.”
President Bill Clinton signed the first Presidential Proclamation recognizing caregivers in 1997; every president since has issued an annual proclamation naming November as the month to appreciate family caregivers.
Here’s what President Barack Obama noted in this year’s proclamation: “Day in and day out, selfless and loving Americans provide care and support to family members and friends in need. They are parents, spouses, children, siblings, relatives, and neighbors who uphold their unwavering commitment to ensure the lives of their loved ones shine bright with health, safety, and dignity.”
Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter poignantly and pointedly put National Family Caregivers Month into perspective this way: “There are four kinds of people,” she said. “Those who will become caregivers, those who are caregivers, those who were caregivers, and those who will need caregiving themselves."
According to National Alliance for Caregiving, in collaboration with AARP, “More than 65 million people (29 percent of the U.S. population) provide care for a chronically ill, disabled or aged family member or friend during any given year and spend an average of 20 hours per week providing care for their loved one.”
Hoveround is both intimately aware of, and daily involved with, caregivers and the challenges they face. As America’s largest direct-to-consumer manufacturer of power wheelchairs, the soul and heart of the company is motivated to help others by providing mobility—something not always fully appreciated until it is suddenly limited.
“It started with a vision,” explains the company’s founder and president. “Let’s build a power wheelchair that can go anywhere someone can walk.” Hoveround power chairs can easily maneuver in the tight spaces other power chairs and scooters just can’t, allowing users the freedom to live independently and stay in their homes.
Hoveround has dedicated 23 years to providing that mobility solution. It is the largest power wheelchair manufacturer that delivers directly to the customer, having provided more than 250,000 power chairs to those in need.
“The company’s mission—to improve the quality of life for people with restricted mobility—continues unchanged to this day,” Kruse said.
Hoveround’s president believes that caregivers, as well as the loved ones they help, have stories to share—and he wants to hear them.
“We hear from customers all the time who tell us how their lives have been transformed by their caregivers,” Kruse said. “Their stories inspire each and every one of us at Hoveround to continue providing the best mobility solutions to help people regain their independence and freedom.”
