Cigar Advisor Publishes Updated Cigars 101 Article On How to Review a Cigar
Easton, PA (PRWEB) September 12, 2013 -- The all-new Cigar Advisor Magazine is an online cigar magazine that brings a fresh, irreverent, and down-to-earth perspective on all things cigars to thousands of smokers. In addition to educational cigar content and behind-the-scenes cigar industry articles from some of the business’s top names, Cigar Advisor delivers an array of content about a variety of topics of interest to people who enjoy the cigar lifestyle. The magazine also features cigar reviews and ratings submitted by real smokers. Cigar Advisor has just published an update to their “Cigars 101” primer on how to review a cigar, now with advice on how to make the review an entertaining read.
Jonathan DeTore, junior copywriter for Cigar Advisor, has made some updates to the magazine’s “Cigars 101” piece on how to write a cigar review. “It was time to add some needed info,” writes DeTore. “Each time we smoke a new cigar, we try to experience the flavors, spices, strength, and a whole plethora of different qualities and nuances during our smoke, so we can remember it to be good or awful. This is our own personal review that we create for each cigar.” The new information he’s added to the piece is written for the benefit of bloggers-to-be: “There are a few things you want to consider to make sure your cigar review is top notch. There are too many reviews out there that are just terrible - and I think that needs to stop right now.”
Jon acknowledges that writing a cigar review may seem fairly straight forward, but if a writer wants to build a group of loyal readers, he offers some tips to keep the audience coming back. “Every cigar smoker is looking for a reliable source of information on new cigars hitting the market. Make sure your cigar reviews are entertaining and enjoyable, strike the balance between too in-depth and too lacking, and your readers will keep coming back time and time again.”
He’s also picky about the way some cigar reviews are presented. “Don’t overcomplicate your review by trying to sound like a stuck-up aficionado,” he says. “Everyone is going to have a different palate than you, but there will be a dominant flavor in every cigar that will be consistent from person to person. Do not make the mistake of hanging your hat on the subtle flavors that you may taste, as someone else may not.” This, he says, will result in disconnecting the reader from your review, especially if the reader has smoked the cigar previously. “Nobody wants to read how you taste cool cucumber or French vanilla chai latte. Instead, focus on dominant flavors because it is consistent and relatable with everyone.”
