WALTHAM, Mass., May 10, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- If stay-at-home moms earned an annual salary for all the jobs they perform on a daily basis, how much would they earn?
Salary.com, the leader in employer-reported compensation data, software, and services, today releases the results of their annual Mom Salary Survey, which estimates the value of a mother's work in 2019 by tracking real-time market prices of all the jobs that moms perform. The result? The median annual salary for stay-at-home moms in 2019 is $178,201 – rising nearly $16,000 (up 9.6%) from 2018 calculations.
Through surveying thousands of working and stay-at-home moms since 2000, Salary.com's 20th Annual Mom Salary Survey assesses the jobs modern moms perform, as well as the average number of hours they spend on each role in a given week. With consideration given to traditional roles – like housekeeper, dietitian, and day care teacher – and newer roles – like network administrator, social media communications, and recreational therapist.
"Parents hold the ultimate hybrid job at home. They're CEOs, judges, academic advisors, and so much more," said Sarah Reynolds, Vice President of Marketing at Salary.com. "The role of Mom requires a diverse skill set that commands serious market value in the talent market, and with new demands on Mom's time arising every day, we only expect their market value to increase in the future. The immense dedication and work ethic of modern moms does not go unnoticed or unappreciated, and we were not at all surprised at the increased salary we calculated this year, nor do we expect this pace of growth to slow over the next five years."
Salary.com's 2019 Mom Salary Survey recognizes the value that working and stay-at-home moms alike deliver to their families every day.
