How to Intentionally Improve Relationships and Interactions to Achieve Success
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (PRWEB) June 24, 2019 -- Effective relationships and interactions are keys to achieving success at most jobs. Whether personal or professional, being able to communicate effectively, while overcoming adversity, is a necessary skill for garnering positive outcomes. The good news is – it can be learned.
In his new book, “Stumbling Blocks to Stepping Stones: A Guide to Successful Meetings and Working Relationships,” author and statistical consulting expert Doug Zahn offers a roadmap to intentionally and systematically improve both personal and professional relationships and meetings.
“I became aware of a deficiency in interpersonal skills amongst not only statisticians, but all other professionals and non-professionals in their day-to-day interactions,” Zahn said. “I’ve seen results that are possible, assisting participants in learning these skills, using carefully constructed, challenging role-plays, blended with short tutorials on psychological and interpersonal skills.”
Zahn earned his PhD in statistics from Harvard University and has been a consultant for over 35 years. He coached consulting professionals at the United Kingdom Office for National Statistics for nine years and is the coauthor of “The Human Side of Statistical Consulting,” and “Quality Management Plus: The Continuous Improvement of Education.”
“Start each conversation with a ‘wanted conversation,’” Zahn said. “Carefully identify what the other person wants to accomplish. Wanted conversations are an invaluable part of any interaction, in any context. Unfortunately, many discussions falter or fail for a lack of complete wanted conversation. Honing this skill will improve all collaborations.”
