Howard Caulfield's ‘The United States of America’ is fundamentally a resource book for U.S. geography.

Author Howard Caulfield has been interested in the state shapes for years, particularly states like Michigan, where the Upper Peninsula is separated from the rest of the state and states, West Virginia and how it was formed. The arch at the top of Delaware was always a mystery for him as well. So, as a “bucket list” item for him, Caulfield started the book when he retired. “The United States of America”: State Borders and other State Facts is a brief summary of the north, south, east and west borders for each state. It also provides other state facts in a concise two pages for each state. While most of this information is available through other sources, Caulfield was not able to find the information without going to multiple sources. This book provides all the information in a condensed format.

About the Author
Howard Caulfield lives in Glen Burnie, Maryland with his wife Edna Caulfield. Howard is the father of Tracy Dunheimer and Lisa Owens. He is the proud grandfather of Zachary Dunheimer, Troy (TJ) Owens, Alex Dunheimer, Tyler Owens and Taylor Owens. After working 10 years in operations management, Howard’s professional career included being an Account Executive with the Institute of Management Resources, a Westlake Village, CA based management consulting firm. He is also a founding partner and Executive Vice President of Operations of Step3 Consulting, originally founded in 1986 as Universal Management Concepts (UMC). Howard was the President and CEO of Glenshaw Glass Co., Inc., a western Pennsylvania glass container manufacturing company from 1983 to 1988. Howard retired in 2012 from UHY Advisors, a top 20 worldwide Tax and Business Consulting firm where he served as principal advisor to the Management Consulting practice after UHY acquired Step3 Consulting. Howard’s professional experience included consulting in Productivity, Efficiency, Throughput and Service Level Enhancement, Standardization and Best Practice Implementation, Lean Manufacturing, Lean Sigma, Zero Based Budgeting, Activity Based Costing, Facilities Layout and Logistics, Total Predictive Maintenance, Balanced Scorecard Implementation, Inventory Management and Optimization, Turnaround Management, Capital Planning, and Organization Alignment. Howard majored in Business Administration at the University of Baltimore from 1966 through 1970.
