A Mobile Dock Lift should be a part of every emergency response plan
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. (PRWEB) September 13, 2018
A lot of effort goes into emergency preparedness in vulnerable areas, especially the East Coast during hurricane season. For individuals, the focus is protecting life and property: check the generator, board up, buy water & batteries, and, if mandated, get out of Dodge. Federal, state, and local emergency management, however, must be prepared to provide food, water, shelter, and emergency services for thousands of people during and well after the hurricane has passed.
A disproportionate amount of effort in the aftermath of a hurricane or other disaster goes to a single task – unloading trucks. With no electricity, they must rely on pure manual labor or the improper use of a forklift. After a single major storm, this can be thousands of hours of labor.
The solution to this waste of resources is the world’s first and only Mobile Dock Lift ™ (MDL) developed by Superior Handling Equipment, LLC, in Ormond Beach, Florida. The very first MDL produced was sent to Puerto Rico last fall in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria (See the MDL in action in Puerto Rico). It was utilized by the local military to unload hundreds of trucks filled with water and emergency supplies, freeing an estimated 6000 man hours for more productive efforts.
“Following Hurricane Maria they had great devastation. They had no power or loading docks. We were able to unload food and water from a truck in under 15 minutes where prior is was greater than 45 minutes with tremendous physical endurance required.” – Mike Vollmar, CEO of Superior Handling Equipment.
The MDL is an evolution of Superior’s existing Speed-Lift dock lift which has set the standard for safety, durability and efficiency with its robust and patented cantilever-lifting design. It has a 6000 lb capacity, safe & simple operation, and an integrated trailer and power source, allowing it to be taken anywhere. Other applications include agriculture, construction, military, and general material handling.
Hurricane season is well underway with Hurricane Florence striking the Carolinas and Helene and Isaac close behind. It’s too late to prepare after a storm has made landfall.
