Improved Excavator Patent Portfolios Available from ICAP Patent Brokerage
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 10, 2015 -- ICAP Patent Brokerage announces for sale improved pick holder and high-torque dual saw excavator patent portfolios. This IP is available via private sale from RockSaw Holdings Pty Ltd.
“The purchaser of this technology will be uniquely positioned to offer a cost-effective, robust, premium performance saw attachment technology which can cut up to 130mpa without crushing,” said Dean Becker, CEO of ICAP Patent Brokerage.
Key Characteristics & Benefits
Current offerings in the field of rock cutting/excavation are not able to cut rock effectively, or do so in a cost effective manner. Typical excavator rock saws, although less expensive as attachments to existing machinery, are designed to cut only the simplest of road and light rock surfaces. Stronger, special-built technologies, such as rock crushers, are prohibitively expensive ($0.5M+).
These portfolios disclose technologies which allow users to cut rock at higher hardness, where before they would have to use diamond tips or other approaches, thereby achieving a lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) where the TCO is based on the acquisition cost, labor cost, time taken, consumables, downtime and direct and indirect cost of repairs & maintenance. The RockSaw IP comprises two complementary technologies that improve upon the standard excavator rock saw design:
• The ‘Pick Holder Technology’ is an improved pick holder for tungsten carbide picks. Conventional tungsten pick holders are welded but replaceable. Current pick holders have a square base and are adhered to the rock saw using Tungsten Insert Gas (TIG) welding technique, which is expensive and time consuming. In contrast, the Pick Holder Technology covers a cylindrical pick holder design that can be adhered to the rock saw blade with a simpler welding technique (e.g. stick welding). This results in a stronger weld, less downtime and universal setting of pick angles.
• The ‘Dual Saw Technology’ employs a radial piston hydraulic motor to drive dual steel blades around a central shaft in line with the excavator dipper arm. This arrangement has benefits over the conventional single bladed, and conventional dual bladed, excavator rock saw designs, with the ability to generate much higher torque at lower rpm and prevent the excavator unit from running ‘out-of-line’. Using two blades instead of one is more efficient for dimension stone applications (rock material that is cut into specific sizes, typically as blocks and slabs) and in trenching applications where parallel trenches are required.
To date, RockSaw has utilized the Pick Holder and Dual Saw technologies, both alone and in conjunction with each other, to create dual and single blade hydraulic motor excavator rock saws. This technology is proven in the field, having been used on global projects including the Sydney Opera House and Hong Kong subway system.
