iDiscovery Solutions Managing Director Daniel Regard to Speak on Social Media at the Practising Law Institute’s (PLI) seminar in New York City on November 18
Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 14, 2013 -- Daniel Regard, Managing Director of iDiscovery Solutions, Inc., ("iDS"), an award-winning, global, legal technology expert services firm headquartered in Washington, D.C., will speak on Social Media at the Practising Law Institute’s (PLI) “Think Like a Lawyer, Talk Like a Geek 2013: Get Fluent in Technology” seminar on November 18. Mr. Regard’s session will be at 9:15am ET at PLI’s center in New York City. Lori E. Lesser, of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, will join Mr. Regard on the 2-person panel.
The panelists will discuss social media data storage and the implications for litigation, recent press stories about social media surveillance, hot topics and trends in government enforcement and private litigation, and data aggregation, analytics, and privacy issues in social media.
“I am honored and excited to be considered a person who speaks enough "geek" to help others,” said Mr. Regard. “In all seriousness, the language gap between lawyers and technologists can, and has, created hardships in the area of discovery. iDS is committed to influencing the intersection of law and technology, so this is the right venue for us to carry that message.”
Mr. Regard is a nationally recognized electronic evidence and case management expert with more than 20 years of experience consulting with legal and corporate entities. A programmer and an attorney by training, Regard has conducted system investigations, created data collections and managed discovery on some of the highest profile investigations of the last decade. He has national and international experience advising on such issues as e-Discovery, computer forensics, database development, application software, data analysis, and repository services. He has testified on numerous occasions and been engaged as a testifying expert and a court-appointed neutral on issues of e-Discovery.
The PLI seminar will focus on how the proliferation of technology requires that counsel understand how increasingly complex technology works and the legal issues created by these innovations in a client’s business. This unique program will present extraordinary sessions combining experienced technology lawyers with industry experts. The program will give lawyers the necessary background to become more knowledgeable and effective advocates. In today’s world, the technology-savvy lawyer has a decided advantage in negotiating contracts or litigating intellectual property or business issues. For those that cannot attend in person, the seminar is available in webcast format.
