Anti-racism Nonprofit Launches Indiegogo Fundraiser to Spread Popular Music Festival Message to Orphans Globally
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 01, 2014 -- I Don’t Know You, But I Love You, Inc. (IDKYBILY), an anti-racism and positive minded LA nonprofit, launches Indiegogo Fundraiser to spread popular music festival message of unconditional love in a variety of languages to an international audience, namely orphans. The message is most commonly found on stickers and passed out in the west coast music, arts and yoga community. Since April 2011, 8,000 English language stickers have been passed out for free at music events, art shows, social events and community gatherings.
IDKYBILY is the nonprofit’s core message used to commit to a discriminatory free and positive mindset and lifestyle. The mission statement includes ending racism by inspiring and sustaining a nurtured non racist and non bigoted community. Recipients claim the message “changes lives,” provides instant happiness, spreads good will and inspires humanitarian and charitable acts.
The expression has been printed on jewelry, accessories, t-shirts, balloons, banners, glasses, hand fans and tattoos. The stickers are the most in demand item as the recipients have the ability to display for long periods of time in places with large audiences. Stickers have been passed out in Times Square, Mardi Gras, Spain, Ireland, Mexico, Australia, Israel and Thailand. Recipients post on bicycles, cars, backpacks and laptops.
The Indiegogo Fundraiser seeks donations to print the expression in a children-friendly style in a variety of languages. IDKYBILY volunteers have offered to translate the expression to Hindi, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Hebrew and Spanish. The nonprofit believes those missing the family unit may be missing the necessary emotional growth component of being told and shown they are loved.
The nonprofit is looking for donors interested in multicultural community building and investing in youth and minority led organizations and entrepreneurship. They need volunteers to craft goods, offer services and pass out stickers. Currently Sweet Treats dessert company is sponsoring IDKYBILY with 15% of proceeds going towards the fundraiser.
The fundraiser started on February 14th, 2014, Valentine’s Day, in commemoration of Black History Month and will end on Tax Day April 15th, 2014. Donors who contributed in the month of February will receive holographic Valentine’s Day cards with positive messages, and all donors have the ability to receive gifts or “perks” of their choosing on the Indiegogo website.
For $15.15, the "15 Minutes of Fame Fortune” perk comes with stickers, Brazilian good luck bracelets and 15 days of promotion for any donor’s goods, services or talents. The $44.44 “All 4 You Freebie” perk includes stickers and a 30 minute therapeutic/counseling conversation with the president of IDKYBILY. All perk packages come with multiples of each item for the donor to share with friends, family and strangers.
IDKYBILY started in January 2011 on Facebook to help Coachella Music Festival attendees find all necessary logistics when the tickets unexpectedly sold out due to scalpers. More than 1,000 hand made creations bearing the IDKYBILY slogan have been passed out for free at over three dozen festivals and hundreds of social events and family gatherings across the country.
