Idaho Military Financial Alliance to Host Financial Event during Military Saves Week 2016
Boise, Idaho (PRWEB) February 19, 2016 -- The Idaho Military Financial Alliance is partnering with the Idaho National Guard to host an event during Military Saves Week on Thursday, February 25 from 8:00am – 11:30am at Gowen Field. This financial event marks the second of its kind due to the large success of the previous year. Guest speaker Jina Choi, Regional Director in the San Francisco Regional Office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, will kick off the event with a presentation entitled “OPERATION: FINANCIAL FREEDOM Battling Scams 101.” The event is free and open to all Idaho Service members and their Families who have access to the Military Base.
During the event, attendees will learn more about the importance of financial education and ways to avoid financial scams, including the appropriate action to take if caught in a scam. “It is our goal to provide our Military community with financial resources and education to help them become informed consumers,” said Sheila Warner, Army OneSource State Community Support Coordinator for Idaho. The presentation will be complemented by a concurrent financial fair with vendors featuring local and trusted resources.
“This is a great opportunity for Service members and Families to learn how to avoid becoming a victim of scams, fraud and identity theft. Truthfully, anyone can be at risk, especially those who think they could never fall victim to scams,” said Todd Christensen, Director of Education & Bankruptcy Certificate Services and member of the Idaho Military Financial Alliance.
“OPERATION: FINANCIAL FREEDOM Battling Scams 101” is made possible by the Idaho Military Financial Alliance, including Army OneSource, Idaho Department of Finance, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Mountain America Credit Union and the National Financial Education Center.
