iDragonsDen is translating the global success of the hit television series, now in its 11th season, into a first-of-its-kind opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to turn their app visions into realities. Anyone can enter the den and pitch their app idea in a one-minute “Elevator Pitch” video, which can be recorded and uploaded directly through the iDragonsDen app on their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
Ben Scammell, iDragonsDen founder, explained: “The market for apps is booming, but there are so many brilliant ideas that never get to market because people lack the financial resources and/or technical know-how to turn their idea into reality.”
Mr. Scammell continued, “we wanted to create a platform that helps people find the missing pieces of the puzzle to realize their business dreams and that’s what iDragonsDen allows users to do… all with the download of an app.”
Once a video pitch has been submitted and reviewed, selected entrepreneurs are contacted for permission to share their idea with hand picked investors from the den.

iDragonsDen launches today with over $15.5 million (£10 million) of investment available from its investors, known as the app’s “Dragons”, to turn the right app ideas into successful businesses.
The app market has seen record growth this year, as evidenced by an 11% increase in app downloads during the first quarter of 2013 compared to the whole of 2012 (Canalys, April 2013). The launch of iDragonsDen follows a huge increase in spending in the app marketplace, with Apple paying out over $10 billion (£6.4 billion) to developers who have contributed to the App Store and $5 billion (£3.2 billion) of that in the last year alone (Forbes, August 2013).
The easy-to-use app offers users a seamless experience from pitch to production. App users can also access handy tips for getting the most out of the iDragonsDen experience by tapping on the “light bulb” features, found throughout the app. The app requires iOS 6.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
