Idrive celebrates 10 years selling its X-Series Line.

Idrive camera evolution

“During these past 10 years, there has been a huge and exciting leap in technology within the industry. I can’t wait to share what we have in store this year and the next 10 years.” Stated Idrive’s CEO, Sean O’Neil.

A global leader in Intelligent Camera Systems and Computer Vision for the transportation industry celebrated 10 years since the release of its flagship X-Series intelligent camera system. Over the last decade, Idrive and its engineering team have evolved to push the standards of the transportation industry and its technology. With the success of the X-Series, Idrive has continued engineering and innovating its product and service line to reflect the growing needs of the industry.

Over 10 years ago, GPS was adopted as the standard in fleet monitoring because of its cost effectiveness compared to video monitoring. GPS Tracking allowed the industry to keep track of their fleet vehicles with some telematics data, but it still lacked visibility. Idrive’s founders used their engineering experience and began researching how to more effectively and affordably bring video surveillance technology to vehicles.

Looking for a way to bring video monitoring to fleet vehicles cost effectively, Idrive created the X1 Video Event Recorder. The Idrive X1 provided a commercial grade camera system that could accommodate the needs of both large and small fleets. The Idrive X1 made its mark on the industry by giving clarity to fleet monitoring, reducing accidents and exonerating drivers. The X1 solved many issues for fleet safety managers.

With the success of the X1, Idrive completely revamped its X-Series line and released the Idrive X2 in 2015. The Idrive X2 camera was unique to the industry and featured a brand-new service called Idrive Video Telematics. Idrive Video Telematics was Idrive’s first unique service to the market and combined GPS tracking with live look-in capability. Idrive’s Video Telematics was welcomed with open arms by fleet safety managers who could now see what their drivers were doing in real time, saving them valuable time.

As a result, Idrive studied its system and data to see what other services would be beneficial to safety managers and save them valuable time. The answer was in Artificial Intelligence (AI) based services. Idrive has recently released: Distracted & Drowsy Driving Detection, Facial Recognition, Covered Camera Notification and Seatbelt Recognition Services, all made possible by AI built into the X-Series camera.

“During these past 10 years, there has been a huge and exciting leap in technology within the industry. I can’t wait to share what we have in store this year and the next 10 years,” stated Idrive’s CEO, Sean O’Neil.
