CORTE MADERA, Calif., July 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- San Francisco Bay Area's independent bookstore, Book Passage, today announced that registration is open for its popular Travel Writers and Photographers Conference this August 8-11 in Corte Madera California. The conference has an extraordinary reputation among publishers, editors, and writers. Alumni have published books, articles, and photos—many as the direct result of lessons learned and contacts made at the conference.
Alumni Paola Ginaturco, the photojournalist behind the award winning "Wonder Girls," says "I owe a huge karmic debt to Book Passage. Without Book Passage, I'd be in my house twiddling my thumbs instead of preparing to introduce my fifth book!"
The collegial atmosphere of this four-day conference attracts participants and faculty from all over the world, including legendary travel writer, Tim Cahill, travel guide maven, Pauline Frommer, and travel photographer, Robert Holmes. New faculty members added this year include award-winning writer, filmmaker, teacher, and TV and Radio host, Phil Cousineau, author of The Art of Pilgrimage. Also new to the conference staff is alumni (and the former Tehran Bureau Chief for the Washington Post) Jason Rezaian. His bestselling book, Prisoner, was published earlier this year documenting his 544 day imprisonment by the Iranian government. His wife, journalist and member of the Committee to Protect Journalists, Yeganeh Rezaian, will join the faculty as well.
"Every summer some magic happens at Book Passage," says acclaimed National Geographic Traveler and BBC Travel writer, Conference Chair Don George. "For four days in August, some of the best travel writers, editors, photographers, publishers, and agents in the world convene in Corte Madera to share the art and heart of the work they love at the Book Passage Travel Writers & Photographers Conference."
Book Passage has served the Bay Area for more than 40 years, providing the community with an array of author events, writing and language classes, and highly-respected annual conferences.
