The Morongo Thunder and Lightning Pow Wow brings together Native Americans from across the United States for a celebration of their ancient heritage, ancestry and customs. As many as 900 dancers will perform Bird Songs, Ceremonial Dances, Gourd Dances and much more to the delight of the thousands who attend both with and without Native American and Indigenous ancestry. Hundreds of vendors will offer handmade arts and crafts as well as an array of delicious foods and beverages for the enjoyment of all.
The Eagle Feather which is considered sacred, is a symbol of the unity and strength of the Native American people. When a feather accidently falls to the ground, a special ceremony is required by the elders to allow the dances to continue. The sanctity of family and elders is a prime component of the Pow Wow protocol. All family members are welcome and no alcohol is served at the event.
The reservation is located in Cabazon, California just off Interstate 10 and admission is free.
