Indrani Maitra Speaks to Wisdom of Shirdi Sai Baba in New Book
Ossining, NY (PRWEB) August 26, 2014 -- Shirdi Sai Baba once said, “For those who come to me with open hearts and appeal to me, who take refuge in me, I am always alert and active. I am always ready to help in their search for the truth and support them in every way possible.” His words ring true in author Indrani Maitra’s new book, “Redemption At Shirdi” (published by Balboa Press), the story of her beloved brother’s emotional transformation in the village on Shirdi.
“This book contains perspectives of a man who was a prominent member of Indian society,” says Maitra. “The main theme of the book is about Shirdi Sai Baba’s teachings as related by my brother through anecdotes, as well as his own personal experiences.”
Maitra’s book is a translation of a book her late brother, Prabhat Mukherjee, wrote in Bengali after he visited the village of Shirdi. Mukherjee was highly successful in radio and later directing and producing movies. Though he won several awards for his work, Mukherjee was emotionally plagued by two divorces until he visited Dwarka Mai and the home of Shirdi Sai Baba’s tomb. Here he found peace, courage and strength to turn his life around and live it to the fullest. He spent the remainder of his life studying the teachings of Shirdi Sai Baba, the Indian saint.
An excerpt from “Redemption at Shirdi”:
“Drunk with the glory of youth and obsessed with the passion of seeking happiness for myself in this hedonistic world, I had spurned and kicked away in early life that which had symbolized a graceful, prosperous and an auspicious life. I had broken my marriage and ignored all traditions of society.”
Those who are Baba’s followers may also know him by his other name Sai Nath. His famous advice to his devotees has been, “Practice faith and patience,” or in his language, “Shraddha and Saburi.”
Through meditation and prayer, Mukherjee found peace and tranquility. Maitra says, “I hope that anyone reading this book, especially Baba’s devotees, find peace, wisdom and inspiration to live their lives to the fullest.”
