Infosecurity Group and Security Innovation Announce CMD+CTRL Hackathon at Infosecurity North America Conference & Expo 2018
Infosecurity North America and Security Innovation Team-Up to Launch Cybersecurity Hackathon at Upcoming 2018 Conference & Expo in NYC
NEW YORK, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Infosecurity Group, the global knowledge hub for the information security community, and Security Innovation, a pioneer in software security, today announced the launch of the CMD+CTRL Cyber Range at the second annual Infosecurity North America Expo and Conference in NYC, being held November 14-15 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. CMD+CTRL will bring together members of the cybersecurity community with varying levels of expertise to test their skills in identifying web app vulnerabilities in a fully immersed scenario. This hackathon event will take place from 4-7 PM on November 14th.
Participants will square off within Security Innovation's one-of-a-kind Cyber Range, an authentic learning environment that will allow 'players' to exploit their way through hundreds of vulnerabilities within a specified business application. Unlike gamification that mimics how an application should respond, CMD+CTRL is comprised real websites, traffic, technologies, and vulnerabilities that represent actual application behavior. This unmatched realism brings the immediate gratification and long-term memory benefits of "learning by doing."
"We are always looking to curate our events with the best possible information, tools and knowledge to give attendees -- regardless of their job title -- the best insights possible about the current state of the cybersecurity space," said John Hyde, Exhibition Director. "By partnering with Security Innovation for CMD+CTRL, we are taking this to the next level -- delivering an immersive, and fun learning experience that confronts participants with the same threats they are likely to encounter in the cybersecurity space on a daily basis."
For each vulnerability that participants uncover, they'll be awarded points, allowing them to climb the leaderboard and win unique prizes, uncover easter eggs and discover challenges of varying complexity for a better learning experience.
"We are so excited to be teaming up with Infosecurity NA 2018," said Ed Adams, CEO of Security Innovation. "At Security Innovation, we are dedicated to providing cybersecurity professionals the training they need to fend off today's cyber threats. Infosecurity events are renown for the value they provide and we are thrilled to be a part of this year's event in New York City."
