The Berkowitz Law Firm LLC reached a $2 million settlement on behalf of a client who suffered severe, permanent injuries in an auto accident allegedly caused by an 18-year old drunk driver (docket number FST-CV13-6018309-S). The case was pending in Stamford Superior Court and was settled during mediation.
According to Jennifer Amdur of The Berkowitz Law Firm LLC, the firm represented three clients in the case, all of whom were allegedly injured following an accident in which the defendant failed to obey a traffic signal. All three plaintiffs recovered damages; the most severely injured of the three was awarded the largest settlement which was $2 million.
“This settlement will help pay for the medical care our client will need for the rest of his life and is an acknowledgement of the pain and suffering this horrific accident caused him,” said Amdur. “We truly hope that this settlement helps our client going forward.”
According to the suit, the defendant, who was 18-years-old at the time of the accident, was under the influence of alcohol. She was charged with DUI, assault with a motor vehicle, possession of alcohol, reckless driving and failure to obey a traffic signal.
