Involution Studios' Co-Founder Special Guest of Edison Innovation Foundation
ARLINGTON, Mass. (PRWEB) October 21, 2015 -- Dirk Knemeyer, a founder of Involution Studios, is being hosted on Tuesday October 27, 2015 by the Edison Innovation Foundation. A social futurist whose predictions about technology and society are broadcast around the world, Mr. Knemeyer has studied the work of Thomas Edison after whom the Edison Innovation Foundation is named. That research has led Mr. Knemeyer to incorporate insights on invention and creativity into Involution Studios’ work with leading healthcare technology organizations such as Johnson & Johnson, the Icahn Institute for Genomics and Multiscale Biology at Mt. Sinai, and Harvard Medical School’s Personal Genome Project.
“Thomas Edison is the most important innovator and inventor in the history of the United States, if not the world,” Mr. Knemeyer said. "While his many inventions are widely and deservedly celebrated, he was also a pioneer in designing creative workplaces. The leading innovators of our time can trace the ways they invent and create to Mr. Edison's West Orange industrial research lab. I am so appreciative for this opportunity from the Edison Innovation Foundation to immerse myself into these seminal creative environments.”
Mr. Knemeyer’s visit is being hosted by John P. Keegan, the Chairman and President of the Edison Innovation Foundation. The agenda includes a meeting with key leaders of the Foundation, followed by that group touring a variety of facilities important to the Edison legacy, such as the Edison Innovation Foundation Conference Center in Newark which houses an Edison “timeline” of his creative work. The tour then will be continued at the Thomas Edison National Historical Park which includes the home of Mr. Edison known as Glenmont and his Invention Factory in which he developed more than half of his patents. It was here that the concept of the “idea to product development” was first created and then perfected.
“Invention and creativity are at the very heart of Thomas Edison’s legacy, and our foundation exists to promote and celebrate these qualities in civic, business, and educational institutions around the world,” Mr. Keegan said. “Dirk Knemeyer is the kind of innovator who captures the spirit of Mr. Edison, and our foundation is pleased to welcome him on October 27th. Edison’s most famous quote is ‘There’s a better way to do it. Find it.’ And Dirk Knemeyer has done just that,” says Mr. Keegan.
Mr. Knemeyer is a frequent guest at innovation and technology organizations around the world. Earlier this month he gave a speech to a group of technologists in Lausanne, Switzerland about the impact of emerging technologies such as cyborgs and robots. Next month he is speaking in Milan, Italy, at one of the largest innovation conferences in Europe, about how modern science and knowledge enable us to rethink outdated social structures that are centuries old. Along with consulting for progressive companies around the world Mr. Knemeyer shares his vision of the future as a regularly published writer, speaker, radio broadcaster, and game designer. It was his game, Tesla vs. Edison, that tells the story of the “War of Currents" between electricity tycoons in late 19th century America which led to cooperation with the Edison Innovation Foundation. Tesla vs. Edison is available through its publisher, Artana LLC, at http://www.artana.com.
