The Professional Protector Plan® for Dentists' Volunteers Head to Fayetteville North Carolina to Participate in the North Carolina Mission of Mercy
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- The North Carolina Mission of Mercy is a two-day free dental clinic held throughout the year that was started by the North Carolina Dental Society for underserved in North Carolina. All services are provided free of charge by members of the North Carolina Dental Society, assisted by a host of volunteers & sponsors.
The North Carolina MOM event will be taking place July 26th – July 27th at the Crown Center in Fayetteville, NC.
The PPP employees look forward to the opportunity to provide volunteer service to the NC MOM and benefit almost as much as the patients treated.

The North Carolina Missions of Mercy (NCMOM) offers free dental treatment to those in financial need who have few or no other options for care. In North Carolina, the problem of access to dental care has reached nearly epidemic proportions. More than one million adults and children have no source for regular dental care. Many have never seen a dentist, and many suffer the complications of advanced dental disease. The NCMOM program is staffed by volunteers from across the State and funded by tax deductible donations to the NC Dental Health Fund. Understanding that many people and families today have difficulty affording dental services, Mission of Mercy events provide “no questions asked” care to those in need. According to the American Dental Association, dental disease is almost entirely preventable and oral health is just as important as the health of the rest of your body. Untreated dental disease can lead to serious health problems such as infection, damage to bone or nerve, and tooth loss. Infection from tooth disease can even spread to other parts of the body and in rare cases, can lead to death.
Dental Mission of Mercy events have donated dental services to indigent patients for over a decade. The first dental MOM was held in Virginia, July 2000. MOM events are now held in 17 states and are usually sponsored by state or local dental societies. Over the course of its history, 100,000+ patients have been treated, and over $50 million of donated dental services have been provided by caring dental professionals.
