Far Corners Community Music Theatre program in Mozambique

Far Corner Community Music Theatre announces that its Costa Rica Program, Musical Theatre Connections, is currently enrolling both high school participants and college interns for youth international programs this summer. Far Corners Community Musical Theatre, a small non-profit organization, brings musicals and other performing arts opportunities to communities where, due to economic limitations or geographic isolation, opportunities for participation in the arts have been limited or nonexistent. In the past, Far Corners has brought the performing arts to Jiujiang, China, and Maputo, Mozabique. And every summer, deep in the tropical cloud forest in the beautiful Tilarán Mountains of Costa Rica, locals and international students alike join forces to make music.

Through a unique combination of musical theatre and community service, participants experience a new culture not as part of an outside group of tourists but as a member of the community. Musical Theatre Connections: Costa Rica integrates local and international students who share a love for the performing arts, helping them to create something deeply meaningful together. The centerpiece of Musical Theater Connections is a full production of a hit Broadway musical. Working alongside local students, students from America spend their days rehearsing, sewing costumes, building sets, and immersing themselves in every aspect of the production.

When they aren’t busy with the production, participants enjoy exploring their beautiful surroundings. The Monteverde Zone is one of Costa Rica’s top tourist destinations, and for good reason. The area’s famous nature reserves give visitors a taste of this breathtakingly beautiful ecosystem. Frequent wildlife sightings include monkeys, sloths, toucans and coati, while the mountain landscape features hot springs and dramatic waterfalls. Participants also enjoy adventure activities, including zip-line canopy tours and horseback riding.

Far Corner’s Costa Rica Program, Musical Theatre Connections, is currently enrolling both high school participants and college interns for this summer. More information about this unique program can be found at its website, http://www.FarCornersMusicals.org.
