Security, what company doesn’t have concerns? Have these questions been asked and answered: How has your company handled security issues? Is there a manual with procedures to follow? What steps are taken in the hiring process? Are passwords changed regularly and who has access? Does your company have safeguards for check fraud and identity theft? Has the IRS sent letters in regards to tax issues—and how did the company work with them? What company hasn’t had some of these questions come up—this seminar will offer options to answer them. These are just a handful of questions that will be addressed by Charles Read in the HR.com webinar series on Oct. 15.
The HR.com webinar series presentation by Charles Read, offers real case studies and examples of situations and how they could have been resolved or in some cases were resolved. Knowing the company processes for remedies and having knowledgeable vendors make all of the difference in bringing the best security to an organization.
Charles Read states, “Check fraud is the largest white collar crime throughout the U.S., followed closely by identity theft.” A fraudulent situation that has been seen by Mr. Read’s companies is when a check gets washed in a pant pocket:
The employer issues a new check and at some time in the future, the first check gets cashed as well. Positive Pay with your bank would solve this particular incident. But you need to make sure that you update the Positive Pay file with the information that the first check is no longer valid. It is always best to ask for the remains of the check for the payroll files. This fraud is seen less due to direct depositing. The many security issues around direct deposit are also covered in this presentation.
