Guitar Companies to Descend Upon Brookfield, Wisconsin at Wilson Center Guitar Competition August 13 – 15
New Berlin, WI (PRWEB) June 30, 2015 -- Milwaukee area musical instrument retailer Cascio Interstate Music has partnered with eight different guitar manufacturers and their representatives to be on-hand for the third annual Wilson Center Guitar Competition & Festival, taking place Thursday, August 13, 2015 through Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The annual, multi-genre festival features four different competitions — Rock/Blues, Fingerstyle, Jazz, and Classical. The weekend will include the semi-final and final rounds of competition, free master classes and clinics, as well as ticketed concerts for the public on all three evenings.
Vendor display booths, open to the public, will be spread throughout the Wilson Center and will include the following manufacturers: Fender, Ibanez, Cordoba, Guild, Dean, Luna, Archer and Breedlove. On-site contests and giveaways will also be offered for guitar fans of all types. Cascio Interstate Music is one of the event's major supporting sponsors and is Wisconsin's largest music store, among the top 20 largest musical instrument retailers in the nation.

Featuring $22,000 in prize money, the first-place winners in each competition will perform live on Saturday, August 15, 2015. 59 semifinalists were recently announced from the pool of YouTube and DVD applications received this spring, and will come from across the US and from other countries to perform live during the weekend’s competition. 12 competitors are in the Rock/Blues category; 15 in the Fingerstyle category; 15 in Jazz; and 17 in Classical. Contestants will travel from Pennsylvania, New York, Minnesota, Maryland, California, Massachusetts, Tennessee, New Mexico, Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri, Florida, Mississippi, Texas and Puerto Rico. Other competitors will come from Italy, Japan, Brazil and Finland.
The festival weekend also includes three ticketed festival concerts, including Croatian virtuoso classical guitarist Ana Vidovic on Thursday, August 13, at 7:30pm; internationally renowned guitarist Troy Stetina and American jazz guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg on Friday, August 14, at 7:30pm; and fingerstyle legend Leo Kottke with special guest, Canada-based guitarist Antoine Dufour on Saturday, August 15, at 7:00pm.
