Although there are many options of cremation urns for ashes, over the years the clients of cremation company, In the Light Urns, have begun to ask more about biodegradable urns for a water burial. One of the most often-requested urns, especially for eco-conscious clients, is their Peaceful Petal® Water Burial Urn. These urns measure 22 inches across and are available in pure white rose or a beautiful deep red magnolia, the delicate petals of these 100% biodegradable flowers are hand-crafted with great care in the U.S. using a unique French paper. White roses symbolize light, innocence, and purity in the departed loved ones soul, while the meaning of the magnolia flower is sweetness, love of nature, nobility, dignity and splendid beauty.
Cremated remains are held in a biodegradable bag which is included and safely secured inside the flower. At the appropriate time during the ceremony, the Peaceful Petal® Urn is gently placed directly into the water. One may wish to have guests say some parting words while lightly toss in some of the beautiful Memorial Rose Petals© also found at In the Light Urns, as well as personal notes, or mementos from the decedent’s life to float along the water with the remains as a final parting gesture. As the ceremony continues the flower will depart and the urn will slowly begin to disintegrate and slip beneath the water. The Peaceful Petal® Water Burial Urn is a calm and peaceful way to remember someone's life, it is a memorial that will make the final remembrance for a loved one truly special.
If the Peaceful Petal© Water Burial Urn isn’t quite right for you, then check out some of the other popular biodegradable and water burial cremation urns offered by In the Light Urns. Perhaps one of their Peaceful Pillow® Urns, or one of the natural salt, and sand art urns would be a more appropriate choice. Most all of the urns supplied by In the Light Urns can be personalized with a variety of options, a beautiful sentiment of choice, the details of the loved ones life, a design of preference, and some even include the option of adding a personal photo.
Laws regarding water burials vary by location, so it is wise to check with local authorities before arranging a water burial ceremony of any kind. In the case of traveling through an airport with the Peaceful Petal© urn to arrive at a desired location , we recommend leaving cremated remains in the temporary container while passing through security and boarding the flight. The TSA will not open the container, but may want to scan it. It may also be helpful to have a permit form from the crematorium, but this is not required. The petals are fragile, so it is advised to ask the flight attendant if there is a safe place where the urn can be stored and will not get damaged.
