Pittsburgh-based InventHelp is working to submit this idea, the Coffee Brewing Utensil, to companies for review.

"I love to drink coffee often, but dripped coffee gets all over the place every time I transfer the used brew funnel to the trash can for disposal," said an inventor from Madisonville, Tennessee. "I created a prototype of an idea that solves this problem."

The Coffee Brewing Utensil is an accessory that provides a mess-free way of emptying a coffee maker's brew funnel. It avoids hot drips and dropped coffee grounds, which prevents messes and frustration. It also makes cleanup of the brew funnel easier, promotes fresher coffee, and is easy to use and store. The accessory can be used for tea leaves or bags too. The invention is patent-pending.

The original design was submitted to the Nashville office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
