InventHelp, a Pittsburgh-based invention submission company, is submitting The Speak Out to companies for their consideration and possible feedback.

It's difficult to dispute the importance of measurement in any project. In fact, it may often be the first order of business. Thanks to an inventor from Shakopee, Minn., there is now an improved measuring tool available.

He developed The Speak Out to provide a convenient measuring tool for anyone who has difficulty reading. What's more, it can also serve as a learning aid for children or for novice do-it-yourselfers. Since it eliminates the need to read numbers on a tape measure, it improves independence for those with visual impairments. Furthermore, it is compact and lightweight, making it easy to use, maintain and store. It is also accurate, efficient and affordably priced. In addition, it makes a great gift addition to any tool collection.

The inventor's friendship with someone who was partially blind inspired this idea. "I wanted to give anyone who had difficulty reading an easy way to do measurements," he said.

The original design was submitted to the Edina office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
