InventHelp Device Provides More Reliable and Safer Stabilization of CAPD Catheters (FRO-327)
PITTSBURGH, PA (PRWEB) October 25, 2016 -- One of two inventors from Visalia, Calif., noticed that hospital staff were improvising to secure CAPD catheters by taping in place. The trouble is that hospitals lack a CAPD catheter identification system, which often results in the use of catheter stabilizers that aren’t designed for CAPD catheters. This can cause punctures that lead to compromised sterility and infections. Also, tape leaves sticky residue, which requires heavy cleaning and endangers the integrity of catheters.
"Our design solves these problems," the inventor said.
The inventors then created a prototype of the CAPD, a device that secures a CAPD catheter in position in a more reliable, safer manner. It prevents it from being pulled or punctured, shifting, kinking or having to be continually reapplied as with conventional medical tape. Easy to apply and remove, the device protects skin from irritation and discomfort. It also maintains sterility in order to avoid infections.
The original design was submitted to the Fresno office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
