Pittsburgh-based InventHelp is attempting to submit this idea, the E Z Reach Smoke Alarm, to companies for their consideration.

"It can be difficult to change the battery of smoke detectors because they are so high up," said an inventor from Lee's Summit, Mo. "Instead of having to drag out a ladder or chair in order to replace the battery, I came up with a more convenient smoke detector."

He created a prototype for the E Z Reach Smoke Alarm to make it easier to replace the battery. The patented design ends the need to climb a ladder to reach the battery which makes it safer to use for the elderly and handicapped individuals.

The invention ensures that the smoke detector is working properly because it will always have a functional battery. The device saves time and effort. Additionally, it offers added peace of mind.

The original design was submitted to the Kansas City office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
