Pittsburgh-based InventHelp attempts to submit an invention, L C D Mount Accessory Floating Shelf, to companies for review.

With the rise of flat-screen televisions, the old entertainment centers, which used to house all of the peripherals, have fallen by the wayside. So what to do now if you're looking for a good storage solution? You need the L C D Mount Accessory Floating Shelf.

An inventor from Reedley, Calif., created a prototype for the shelf, which provides a convenient place to store a DVD player, DVR, cable box or other electronic component. The design ends the need to drill additional holes in the wall. It also is designed to be aesthetically pleasing. The unit ensures that electronic components are readily accessible. In addition, it features a space-saving design.

The inventor's personal experience inspired the idea. "I have a flat-screen TV at home, and I mounted it on the wall," she said. "I did not have a good place to keep the peripherals close by, like my DVD player, cable box and other equipment. This inspired me to invent this easy-to-install shelf."

The original design was submitted to the Fresno office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
