As a registered nurse with four children who all play hockey, one of two inventors from Pembroke, Mass., knows the pitfalls of wearing sports gear for long periods. One of her sons develops dermatitis and rashes in certain areas, which makes him vulnerable to more serious infections such as staphylococcus. Exposed cuts and scrapes can lead to serious infections, such as MRSA, as well.
"Youth sports have become very popular in children’s lives, and grown athletes face the same dangers," the inventor said. "Our design solves this problem."
The patent-pending PRO GEAR LLC protects an athlete from skin irritation and/or infection while wearing sports gear for long periods by avoiding friction and sweat/oil buildup in key areas of the body. It also prolongs the cleanliness of sports gear. Overall, it promotes good hygiene and peace of mind. Versatile, easy to use, and disposable (1-time use application), it is ideal for athletes of all ages, as well as firefighters, utility workers and the military.
