Pittsburgh-based InventHelp attempts to submit an invention, Safe Tracker, to companies for review.

"While watching the news, I heard stories of disabled individuals leaving home and getting lost," said one inventor, from Pittsburgh, Pa. "I thought there needed to be a way to alert caregivers so their loved ones could be found quickly, so we invented the SAFE TRACKER."

The SAFE TRACKER allows caregivers to be alerted when an individual unknowingly leaves home. In doing so, it helps to maintain a safe distance between any person in need of supervision and their guardians or caregivers. The device provides added peace of mind for caregivers because it ensures that the user is located quickly. This invention could be used in households, nursing homes or personal care homes and it is ideal for toddlers, children, adults, elderly persons, Alzheimer's patients, individuals with dementia or other cognitive disabilities or those persons in need of special supervision to ensure their personal safety. Additionally, it is producible in design variations.

The original design was submitted to the Pittsburgh office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
