Based in Pittsburgh, InventHelp is attempting to submit the Transformable Envelope/Shopping Bag to appropriate companies for their review and possible evaluation.

How would you like to help reduce the amount of trash that ends up in landfills? Well, an inventor from Chatsworth, Calif., has found a way to eliminate disposable envelopes and bags and replace them with a multipurpose, reusable and convertible option.

Her patented design for TRANSFORMABLE ENVELOPE/SHOPPING BAG was developed to eliminate the unnecessary waste created by using and discarding paper envelopes and bags. It is, therefore, environmentally friendly since it reduces the amount of trash in landfills. Its versatility makes it ideal for carrying mail in the envelope mode and other items in the shopping bag mode.

Either way, it secures items inside so there’s no chance of losing the contents. Furthermore, it is cost-effective, durable and practical, and its compact size, light weight and portability make it ideal for short or long distance travel. In addition, it is sturdy, convenient, easy to use and affordably priced. Because it can be reused, it is affordable. A prototype is available.

This multipurpose carrier includes a zipper, fold-in handles, and an inside flap that helps adjust the inside space to accommodate content. The zipper separates when the accessory is transformed from an envelope into a bag.

The inventor's concern for the environment inspired the idea. "I was looking for an ecologically beneficial alternative to traditional paper envelopes and shopping bags," she said. "I wanted to find a way to solve the problem of overcrowded landfills."

The original design was submitted to the Los Angeles office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
