Irma Romano’s New Book Tackles Real Massage Industry Issues
Toronto (PRWEB) August 02, 2013 -- Irma Romano’s new guide “A Journey In Massage: What You Should Know Before You Book Your Next Massage Appointment” (published by Balboa Press) offers readers a look behind the scenes of the massage industry and into the classroom.
“My book gives you an honest and truthful approach to what it’s like being a massage therapist and why it is a profession still trying to evolve in respectability,” Romano says. “For a client, it helps you decide if massage therapy is for you and what to expect.”
An excerpt from “A Journey In Massage”:
“Without the business mind I would not be able to break free of these corporate sweat shops that called themselves spas. I needed to have control of hygiene, music, my clients comfort, I needed to listen to their problems and help them achieve wellness. I wanted to be able to give remedial exercises after a massage and serve my clients a tea or a glass of water without rushing them out the door denying them a shower afterwards and saying a sentence over and over again like a broken record which so many other massage therapists did. I was not a robot and neither were my clients.”
Romano has had to learn her wisdom regarding the massage industry the hard way: through trial and error. With the publication of her book, she hopes that she can help others avoid the pitfalls she fell into. “A Journey In Massage,” she hopes, will become a standard read for anyone deciding on massage therapy as a career.
