Chris’s vision and commitment to making mobile advertising more effective is in lockstep with ironSource’s efforts to connect developers and users in mutually beneficial ways.

ironSource, the world’s leading digital delivery platform, today announced the hire of Chris Cunningham, former CEO and co-founder of mobile advertising company appssavvy. Cunningham will be Head of US Mobile, playing a key role in growing ironSource’s mobile offering, mobileCore, in the US.

During the past year, ironSource has placed a strategic emphasis on growing its mobile solutions. Cunningham’s wealth of digital media experience and mobile expertise will help further this goal, and he will be instrumental in the company’s continuing efforts to grow and develop its mobile advertising monetization, analytics, and optimization capabilities for app developers.

Cunningham is a recognized leader in the digital advertising space. He previously led appssavvy with the goal of disrupting brand advertising by putting the user at the center of digital advertising efforts. Under his leadership, appssavvy grew to more than $70 million in revenue since he co-founded the company in 2008, and paid out more than $35 million to publishers and developers.

“Chris’s vision and commitment to making mobile advertising more effective is in lockstep with ironSource’s efforts to connect developers and users in mutually beneficial ways,” said Tomer Bar Zeev, CEO and Co-founder of ironSource. “His perspective on digital advertising focuses on the user, which is entirely in tune with how ironSource approaches application delivery, distribution and monetization, and we’re excited to have him on board to lead these efforts in the US.”

The ironSource mobile solution, mobileCore, empowers developers to distribute and monetize their applications in the crowded free-app space, and so far the mobileCore SDK has been implemented in over 50K applications. ironSource also recently acquired mobile game studio Upopa, bringing more mobile and gaming expertise to their offering.

The company has grown rapidly over the last several years, and expanded its workforce from 30 to nearly 400 employees through a mixture of M&A activity and organic growth. In August 2013 ironSource opened its San Francisco office to better serve a growing North American customer base, and this latest hire is another move designed to strengthen the company’s position in the US market. Cunningham intends to help grow the ironSource presence further in New York with a series of new hires in the near future.

By joining ironSource, Cunningham closes his nearly seven-year chapter at appssavvy. His industry expertise will help enhance the ironSource platform to enable both buyers and sellers of mobile advertising space to create native ad experiences, ensure better user experience and increase inventory value.

“I am excited to join a company that is pushing the digital advertising industry forward with consistent innovation,” said Cunningham. “ironSource combines a rare mix of amazing growth and sustained profitability with consistent innovation. They have huge potential to grow far beyond their considerable success, and I’m thrilled to be a part of that.”
