Mother-Daughter Missionary Trip to India Retold in New Book
Cleveland, Ohio (PRWEB) June 06, 2014 -- When a mother and daughter decide to venture out of their comfortable home in Ohio to serve the Dalits, or “untouchables,” of India, a great story follows. Author Isabella Flinn has recorded this adventure in “Pinpricks in the Curtain: India Through the Eyes of an Unlikely Missionary” (published by WestBow Press), the true story of her and her daughter’s work in India.
“‘Pinpricks in the Curtain’ is a book about how God used an average, ordinary mom to do amazing, extraordinary things for Him on the other side of the world,” Flinn says. “The mother-daughter team sets out to serve the Dalits of India together – initially encountering cultural snags, a language barrier and more than a little homesickness – but fall madly in love with the people they’ve come to serve in Christ’s name.”
As a music teacher, Flinn initially was uncertain of how she could serve the people of India, but soon realized the gift of education was invaluable to the Dalits. Flinn shares her story with the hope of inspiring others to find ways to serve God.
An excerpt from “Pinpricks in the Curtain”:
“I saw myself the very same way. I was handcrafted by the Creator God to be His vessel to carry His living water to the Indians even though I’m nothing special. How fitting that my new clay pot would be marred with smeared glue holding the broken lid together. Those glued cracks would serve as a reminder of the fact that I, too, am a cracked vessel held together by the capable hands of the One I serve.”
