Global CyberLympics, the International Cybersecurity Competition, Will Host Its 2014 World Finals in Barcelona, Spain, at ISACA’s EuroCACS/ISRM Event
Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) May 05, 2014 -- Barcelona, Spain will be the backdrop for this year’s Global CyberLympics championship competition. Global CyberLympics, the world's first international ethical hacking cyber game, is a nonprofit online cybersecurity competition that consists of four rounds: Computer Forensics, Computer Network Defense, Penetration Testing, and Capture the Flag. Last year, the competition had more than 3,000 cybersecurity professionals participate, representing 72 countries from all over the globe, including Australia, Africa, Egypt, Netherlands, and Brazil.
This year’s setting adds an additional element of drama to the games, as this is the first year the final round has been held outside of the US. Barcelona was an obvious choice for hosting this unique and exciting event, as it is among the most desirable vacation destinations on the planet. Because of the growth of the games, as well as the exciting destination for the finals, organizers expect to exceed the number of participants in 2014. Organizers are also expecting an increase in participation because Global CyberLympics has partnered with ISACA to hold the final competition at ISACA’s European Computer Audit, Control and Security (CACS)/Information Security and Risk Management (ISRM) conference. ISACA is a nonprofit association for professionals involved in information security, assurance, risk management and governance.
ISACA International President Tony Hayes said, “Among the many cybersecurity activities ISACA has planned for this year, we are excited to host the CyberLympics World Finals at our EuroCACS/ISRM conference in September. Skilled cybersecurity professionals are a critical need today, and we look forward to welcoming these talented individuals to our conference in Barcelona.”
The Global CyberLympics rounds will begin the first week in August and ending the third week of August. The preliminary and final rounds for the top 12 teams will be held on September 29th at ISACA’s EuroCACS/ISRM conference, followed by the awards ceremony and announcement of world champions on September 30th. In addition to worldwide recognition and the thrill of victory, the top three teams will receive trophies, medals, and cash prizes.
Teams are encouraged to represent their region by registering early for a chance to win free online advanced technical training classes or $100 in Visa gift cards for each team member.
