Quality Matters More Than Responsiveness or Price to Buyers of IT Staffing Services
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) March 06, 2014 -- MDI Group, a leading national IT staffing and recruiting services provider, announced today the results of its IT Staffing Services Use & Preferences study conducted in Q4 of 2013. The study interviewed IT managers, directors, VPs and CIOs from MDI Group’s current client base as well as mid-sized to Fortune 500 organizations across the country that do not currently work with the company.
One of the study’s defining questions asked respondents to rank in order of importance four criteria that are commonly used for evaluating the services of an IT staffing provider: Quality, Price, Responsiveness and Ability to Support Multiple IT Skill Sets. Quality was ranked as the most important criteria by 72 percent of the respondents and was favored by more than two-to-one over the other three criteria overall.
When asked about their organization’s preference for the capabilities of an IT staffing provider, 57 percent of respondents prefer to work with a “generalist” IT staffing provider that provides experienced talent for multiple IT skill-sets, while 43 percent prefer a “niche” company that specializes in top-notch talent but only for specific IT roles.
In the next three years, 36 percent of IT leaders expect to see an increase in their organization’s need for temporary IT labor increase, while 50 percent anticipate their needs to stay the same and only 14 percent foresee a decrease in contract labor use. Regarding the ratio of temporary staff to full time IT employees, 33 percent believe the number of contractors will increase in the next three years, 40 percent believe the ratio will remain unchanged, and 27 percent expect to see a decrease in the ratio.
IT leaders were also asked about their use of off-shore labor, and 60 percent of respondents still use resources located overseas. A majority of 70 percent indicated that they are satisfied overall with their use of off-shore IT labor.
MDI Group prepared an IT Staffing Use and Preferences Infographic for an easy-to-read graphic reference to the study results.
