New Novel by Jacqueline James Exposes Political Corruption, Misfeasance
Stockport, England (PRWEB) June 18, 2014 -- In her new book, “An Ignoble End” (published by AuthorHouse), author Jacqueline James M.P. tackles the thorny issue of just how far people will go to get what they want, not just what they need.
James was living the high life in London, performing her dream job in Parliament. One day, the bravery and determination of yesteryear deserted her in the wake of a second malignant, inoperable tumor in her spine. All that is left is despair and determination to wrest the best possible deal out of this agonizing situation – not for herself but her husband and twin sons. To resign her seat and get nothing would be a bitter blow. The trick is to be a Member of Parliament when she dies. The second half of the story is a political roller-coaster ride of lies, fraud and deception culminating in perjury of the worst kind.
An excerpt from “An Ignoble End”:
“This day off from canvassing gave us time to reflect on our situation, if people start to ask difficult questions about the state of my health. The worst scenario would be a direct question aimed at my political agent or me. If someone was to cry foul, we could lose a fortune and bring shame down on us in spades.”
James’ novel has a timely message. As she says, “It coincides with a recent massive scandal throughout the English Parliament as most members thought it quite legal to over-exaggerate their expense claims in a way that was seen to be outrageous by the general public to a degree of showing utter contempt towards them all.”
