In my book I teach what God teaches, and that is that God gives to us so that we have to give to others.

The explanation of accomplishment as monetary gain is something author James H. Hooks hopes to redefine in his new book “Should Christians Prosper?: Teacher/Student Study Book” (published by AuthorHouse).

Exposing what he calls “the prosperity doctrine,” where Christians are expected to give donations to God as a “money-making scheme,” Hooks encourages followers of God to reflect upon what it really means to give back to God.

“In my book I teach what God teaches, and that is that God gives to us so that we have to give to others,” Hooks says. “We give because we love God. In other words, God teaches us to use our energies and resources to minister to the worlds, instead of using the energies of others and the world to meet our needs.”

Hooks hopes readers will not only read and agree with his advice, but also apply the principles he outlines. He hopes readers will be released from their spiritual and financial difficulties after reading this new handbook.
