Sixty-year-old Ultramarathon Winner Publishes Inspiring Autobiography
Hong Kong (PRWEB) September 20, 2013 -- Jan Abbott has proven again that it is never too late to fulfill one’s dream. Abbott started marathon running at the age of 56, ran three London marathons, and then won a 60-kilometre, three-day ultramarathon event in China, just a couple of weeks short of her 60th birthday – a remarkably unprecedented feat. She knows full well that her running, and the fundraising that went alongside it, has inspired many people. Now, she details her breathtaking journey toward her dreams in her newly published book: "Never Too Late."
Abbott’s book is an inspirational memoir about the ups and downs of normal life, culminating in running marathons. It is a short book that will appeal to anyone who is interested in other people’s stories; anyone needing inspiration if they are going through a troubled time; anyone who has done any running or training for a sporting event; anyone with a spirit of adventure. It empowers readers to have the determination to succeed and achieve their dreams and ambitions even though they may feel the time has passed them by.
An excerpt from "Never Too Late":
"It takes an awful lot of effort to complete some tasks, not necessarily sporting but on the journey of life. It’s rarely an individual effort and inevitably there are people supporting in many ways, but at the end of the day it comes down to individual spirit and commitment. The hours, the blood sweat, not to mention the tears, are all part and parcel of the achievement. I look back to the mum’s race in 1983 and feel proud at how much I’ve achieved. This is purely a personal achievement; it doesn’t matter a jot to anyone else except that, along the way, I have managed to help and influence others."
Everyone needs a bit of inspiration now and then. Abbott’s story may make people think twice about being retired – as age is just a number. Real, purely personal, but universally inspiring and empowering, "Never Too Late" is one unique autobiographical work about one brave woman who did things a bit out of the ordinary later in life and succeeded. It serves as an inspiration for readers to achieve their dreams that they, and sometimes others, may think of as impossible.
