Travel To Go Excited to Announce Labor Day Travel Up Over Five Percent This Year
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 27, 2013 -- According to the results of TripAdvisor’s annual Labor Day and fall travel survey*, traveling on Labor Day has increased a total of six percent from last year’s holiday weekend.
Many travelers choose Labor Day weekend to take vacations due to the fact that generally, there are fewer crowds to contend with. In fact, 22 percent of those surveyed cited “fewer crowds” as their main motivation behind traveling for Labor Day. The second most cited reason for traveling over Labor Day weekend was the cooler climate enjoyed by many this time of year.
Driving is the most popular mode of transportation this Labor Day weekend with 63 percent heading out to their destinations behind the wheel. Another 30 percent of people will be traveling by airplane.
“People are taking more trips and traveling further away,” Tommy Middaugh Travel To Go Vice President said. “We have seen this trend getting stronger every year.”
The most popular destinations for this Labor Day Weekend, according to the survey, are: New York City, Denver, Seattle, Philadelphia and Boston. Of those surveyed, nearly half of travelers will be visiting family and friends.
